Nick Dunlap becomes a star. He is the first amateur to score a win at a PGA Tour event. It is the very first win since 1991.

The new star is 20 years old. He scored a win with a six-foot par putt. It is a one-shot win. Dunlap states it is his fourth PGA Tour event, and he scored a win this time. He lost his last three matches. Dunlap says that it is fantastic to win as an amateur.

Moreover, the star became emotional as his parents embraced him.

Dunlap scored a win at 29-under-259 to end the tournament scoring record. He broke a record since the 72-hole round in 2012. Moreover, he is also the youngest winner in all of history. Dunlap became the youngest player to win the tour since 1910.

“It has a nice ring to it,” Dunlap told the press. He expressed to everyone how proud he was. It was great to be a PGA Tour winner. “I dreamed of being a winner. To earn a win score on a PGA Tour event makes everything special.”

As Dunlap scored nine holes in his tournament, another veteran won other shots. Sam Burns stopped on Sunday with a few shots on the last two holes. It is at the PGA West Stadium Course. Burns lost the game. He scored four shots and finished in sixth place.

“I am not sure if you missed it. But if you told me that I would win this year, I would laugh.” Dunlap stated. While Dunlap states that he was nervous, he was a big help. Next to him was Hunter Hamrick. Hamrick was an assistant golf coach at Alabama University. “Hamrick was so calm all day. The attitude was the same.” Dunlap states. “It was like, this is a shot on the left. You had a million putts. It’s another one.”

It was a shock after an extensive round of 64, 65, and then 60. Dunlap did not know that he would score in the fourth round.

Dunlap is the seventh amateur to win the PGA Tour event. His stock has gone up since last year. He became the second player to win the golf titles. Dunlap won the US Junior Amateur and US Amateur titles.

Dunlap Wins His Competition

Thus, the Alabama University student made great shots on nine holes. He managed to hold off a strong, charging Bezuidenhout. He was unaware of the final-hole birdie. Dunlap thought he was holding a two-shot lead. Dunlap’s caddie stated, “It is inside left. You did this before. You can do it.”

As he is an amateur, Dunlap will not get prize money. Thus, the money is going to Bezuidenhout. Everyone asks him if he will become a professional golfer. Dunlap said, “I am not sure. The decision will affect everyone.”
